EDUCATION

Lipa prides itself with its 99.4% literacy rate* and the key implication of which can be attributed to the rich tapestry of formal education system strategically distributed all over its 20,940 hectares.

With the basic aim to help and guide Lipeños to progressively transform and to empower them, the local government of Lipa provides yet another fundamental right of every individual---Education. The city wholly embraces the complexity of teaching, learning, and schooling through the “trifocalized” educational system in response to the heterogeneous needs of Lipeños with varied backgrounds, interests, and ideas.

Working in close coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) for the K–12 basic education; the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for higher education levels; and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for the technical and vocational education programs, Lipa strives to cater to the welcomed variability and projected intricacy of education and its people in the city.

In fact, there are 95 private schools and 86 public schools catering to the K-12 and tertiary academic requirements while there are six private and one public technical or vocational private schools thus ensuring the widest opportunity for academic access to all schooling age from all 72 barangays of Lipa.

As if that was not enough, a state-run college was established in February 14, 1994. Originally named Lipa City Public College, it now goes by the name Kolegio ng Lungsod ng Lipa or KLL upon the approval of Sangguniang Panlungsod Special Ordinance 102-2009. To date it has a total of 29,500 graduates from various college courses such as Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Communication Arts, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Associate in Computer Technology.

With the enticing tropical climate amidst some significant rainfall, the atmosphere in Lipa is quite conducive to learning. Coupled with the incessant advocacy of its government to boost the city’s impressive literacy rate as manifested by the abundant learning facilities, Lipa City is wondrously a scholastic haven.
